According to the Mining and Energy Planning Department, Colombia currently has 10,672 MW of photovoltaic (PV) projects in operation, followed by 8,452 MW of wind power, 1,973.9 MW of hydroelectric power, 672 MW of thermal energy, and 42.7 MW of biomass energy. The latest energy generation project progress report, as of March 2024, indicates that Colombia has 322 ongoing projects. Among these, 233 are solar power plants, 46 are hydropower projects, 32 are wind farms (including 12 offshore and 20 onshore), 6 are thermal projects, and 4 are biomass projects.

Significant solar projects currently under construction include:

1. Guayepo Solar Park: Developed by Enel Colombia, with a capacity of 400 MW, located in the municipalities of Ponedera and Sabanalarga in the Atlántico department.

2. Solar La Loma: Another Enel Colombia project in El Cesar, with a capacity of 150 MW.

3. La Mata Solar Project: Developed by Spain's Solarpack (now Zelestra, owned by EQT Fund), with a capacity of 84.4 MW, in Ayacucho.

4. Continua San Felipe Project: Developed by Trina Solar, with a capacity of 90 MW, in Armero Guayabal.

5. El Campano Solar Project: Also by Trina Solar, with a capacity of 99 MW, in Chinu, Córdoba.

6. Continua Cartago Project: Another Trina Solar project, with a capacity of 99 MW, in the Valle del Cauca department.

These projects underscore Colombia's rapid growth in renewable energy, particularly solar power, contributing significantly to the country's energy transition and sustainable development.
